Englehart Lee Pool

The Englehart Lee Pool is located off of First Street and hosts a beautiful outdoor pool that is open from the third week in June until the last week in August. 

We welcome visitors of all ages to come relax poolside and enjoy the various programs we offer, including:

Open Swim: Suitable for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Adult Swim: Swimmers over the age of 18, and parents & infants 9 months or less. 

Fitness Swim: Lap swim for older youth and adults. Individual exercise (ie stretching, aquafit) is also appropriate. 

Admission Standard: 

  • Children under 10 years of age not admitted to the pool unaccompanied unless they are able to pass the facility swim test. Swim Tests can be attempted once per day. 
  • Children six to nine year of age who are unable to pass the facility swim test must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 12 years of age and responsible for their direct supervision, with a maximum of four children for each parent or guardian.

Passes can be purchased at the Pool, or Town Hall. Payment methods are debit or cash. Once you have purchased your season pass, your name will be added to the spreadsheet. No card necessary. 

Family Pass applies to a group of people made up of up to two primary caregivers and their children who all live in the same household. 

Please note, that if a member of your family requires the assistance of a dedicated support person - there is no charge for this support person to accompany their patient/client.

Swim Lessons

  • Online Registration is now closed.  
  • Registration for sessions 2 and 3 can be completed at the Pool.  
  • Please note that refunds will not be issued after the session has started. 
  • Classes will be capped according to the Lifesaving Society class size recommendations.
  • Registration is on a first come, first paid basis.

  • All other municipalities and unorganized townships are considered non-residents.

Classes offered are dependent on registration, therefore we cannot guarantee that all classes will run in each session.

PATH TO LIFE GUARDING
INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES

Visit The Lifesaving Society for more information about lifeguarding in Ontario. 

Admission Standard: 

  • Children under 10 years of age not admitted to the pool unaccompanied unless they are able to pass the facility swim test. Swim Tests can be attempted once per day. 
  • Children six to nine year of age who are unable to pass the facility swim test must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 12 years of age and responsible for their direct supervision, with a maximum of four children for each parent or guardian. 
  • Children under six years of age may not be admitted to the swimming pool unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 12 years of age and responsible for their direct supervision, with a maximum of two children for each parent or guardian. 

Bathers:

  • A bather has paid admission, is wearing swimming attire, is permitted on the pool deck and can act as the parent/guardian providing direct supervision as per the admission standard. 
  • Bathers enter the pool deck through the showers. 

Deep End:

  • Only bathers who have passed the facility swim test may enter the deep end. Use of lifejacket or other pdf is not permitted during recreational swims. 
  • During lessons and private rentals bathers may enter the deep end with a lifejacket or other pdf at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty. 

Direct Supervision: 

  • Within arm's reach and able to render immediate assistance. Must be a bather. 

Diving Board Rules:

  • Only bathers who have passed the facility swim test may use the diving board. Use of lifejacket or other pdf is not permitted during recreational swims. 
  • During lessons and private rentals bather may use the diving board with a lifejacket or other pdf at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
  • Lifeguards reserve the right to limit or stop use of the diving board at any time they deem it to be in the best interest and safety of the patrons.
  • Only one bather at a time on the diving board. 
  • No swimming in the diving area while diving board is in use. 
  • Divers must check for other patrons before diving. 
  • Divers must move from the diving area immediately after diving. 
  • Only one bounce is permitted.
  • Forward dives only.
  • No hanging from the diving board. 

Easy Step Ladder:

To ensure safety, the ladder must be used correctly:

  • Enter the pool moving down the ladder backwards while holding the rails in each hand. 

Lost and Found:

  • We regret to inform you that the Lee Pool staff is not responsible for any lost, stolen or forgotten items. 
  • Personal property is the sole responsibility of the owner.
  • Please check the Lost & Found frequently, as we have limited space to store it therefore remaining items will be disposed of each Monday. 

Pool Deck:

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all, please:

  • Walk
  • Only plastic containers
  • No food
  • Kind language
  • Device free
  • Listen to the guards

Spectator:

  • Spectators must enter through the back gate of the pool, and remain on the observation deck. Spectators are not permitted on the pool deck, and are therefore not able to provide direct supervision (within arm's reach). 

Swim Test:

  • Must be able to swim from the deep end to the shallow end without touching the side or bottom of the pool. May be attempted once per day, and completed on front or back. 

Wading Pool:

  • Reserved for those under 6 and those who require the accommodation. 
  • Lifeguards reserve the right to limit or stop the use of the wading pool at any time they deem it to be in the best interest and safety of the patrons. 



Closure

  • If the pool must be closed unexpectedly, it will be posted on the Englehart Lee Pool Facebook page, and the door of the pool. 
  • If during regular business hours, you may call 705-544-2244 for up-to-date information about the pool. 

Fire

  • In the event of a fire, the pool will be cleared of all patrons and staff as quickly as possible. 
  • Patrons and staff will evacuate to the Woollings Park (across from the Pool).
  • Staff will remain on site until all patrons have left the evacuation site. 

Lightning

  • Patrons will be instructed to leave the pool and move off the pool deck immediately when lighting begins.
  • Staff must wait 30 minutes after the last strike of lightning before resuming activities. 
  • If there is less than 30 minutes of the session remaining, the session will be cancelled and patrons will be sent home. 
  • Patrons will be permitted to use the telephone to arrange pick up. 
  • Staff will remain on site until all patrons have left the property. 
  • No refunds will be issued in the event of lightning. 

Power Outage

  •  In the event of a power failure the chlorinator and pump to stop functioning, therefore the pool must be cleared of all patrons as quickly as possible. 
  • If the failure is expected to last longer than 30 minutes, the session will be cancelled and patrons will be sent home. 
  • If the failure occurs after 6:00 pm, the pool will be closed for the remainder of the evening and patrons sent home. 
  • Patrons will be permitted to use the telephone to arrange pick up.
  • Staff will remain on site until all patrons have left the property. 
  • No refunds will be issued in the event of a power outage. 

 


If you are a quick learner who thrives in an energetic learning environment, and are working towards achieving your National Lifeguarding Certification, then you may be interested in volunteering at the Lee Pool. 

In addition to Community Involvement, volunteering at the Lee Pool provides the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, lifesaving knowledge, fitness level and understanding of a workplace environment. 

Volunteers work with experienced guards and are involved in a variety of aspects including lessons, maintenance, working with the public, and enhancing the safe and enjoying experience of patrons.
