Located centrally along the highway 11 corridor, in the Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario, the attractive Town of Englehart hugs in the banks of the Englehart  River.

The great outdoors and the surrounding wilderness await the enthusiast. In addition to the traditional family sports – boating, swimming, hiking, and skiing, this municipality offers excellent recreational opportunities that will encourage all the members of your family to stay fit. The preparation of 5.7 kilometers of hiking trails along the Englehart  River to the Kap-Kig-Iwan  Provincial  Park adds to the opportunities for local residents and tourists alike.

The town has a new community arena complex that offers an ice surface, fitness and weight room, walking track and conference centre. We have 3 schools, 3 day care centers and at least 3 licensed home day cares as well as a modern hospital. We have activities for all ages and an active Economic Development committee.  It is an ideal place to raise a family.

There are two major industries in the Town of EnglehartOne that has been here since the inception of the town is the Ontario Northland Railroad and the other one is Georgia Pacific formerly Grant Forest Products.  About 5 years ago there was a major shift of jobs at the Ontario Northland Railroad.  Some jobs came to Englehart while others where shifted to the head office in North Bay. The Ontario Northland Railway employs approximately 100 employees in the Town of Englehart operations.

Georgia Pacific employs about 250 employees and with spin offs from fuel trucks, loggers, and many suppliers.  Englehart is looking at trying to entice new businesses to our community.  A good fit would be industry that creates direct link to either the forest or railway industries.  Many supplies are out of the area and it would enhance both industries to be able to purchase supplies closer to home.
